2026 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Launched in India with Cosmetic Updates
Kawasaki Motorcycles India has officially launched the 2026 model of its renowned supersport motorcycle, the Ninja ZX-6R. Priced at ₹11.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model comes with a new color and graphics scheme, while its mechanical and electronic components remain largely unchanged.
Design: A Fresh Take on a Classic Supersport
The 2026 Ninja ZX-6R is offered in a single color option: the iconic Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) Lime Green. However, the classic paint job is now accented with refreshed graphics. The new livery adds white and blue streaks across the fairing and body panels, creating a sharper visual contrast and a more modern aesthetic compared to the previous, more plain Lime Green finish. The overall design language, inspired by its bigger sibling, the ZX-10R, remains the same, featuring a twin-headlamp setup, aggressive bodywork, and a sporty split seat.
Engine and Performance: The Heart of a Screamer
Underneath the new graphics, the 2026 model retains the same engine that has made the ZX-6R a legend in the middleweight class.
- Engine: It is powered by a liquid-cooled, 636cc, inline-four cylinder engine.
- Power and Torque: This high-revving engine delivers 129 bhp with the Ram Air intake at 13,000 rpm and 122 bhp without it. It generates a peak torque of 69 Nm at 11,000 rpm.
- Transmission: The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, which features an assist and slipper clutch and a quick shifter for clutchless upshifts.
Chassis and Hardware: Race-Inspired Components
The Ninja ZX-6R continues to use a lightweight and race-inspired pressed aluminum perimeter frame. The suspension setup, provided by Showa, is fully adjustable to suit both road and track riding.
- Front Suspension: A 41 mm Showa inverted SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) fork, fully adjustable for preload, compression, and rebound damping.
- Rear Suspension: A Uni-Trak monoshock unit, also fully adjustable.
- Brakes: Braking performance is handled by twin semi-floating 310mm discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and a single 220mm petal disc at the rear. The braking system is equipped with the Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System (KIBS).
Electronics and Features: A Modern Supersport
The 2026 ZX-6R is packed with a suite of electronic aids and features that enhance both performance and convenience.
- Instrumentation: It features a new TFT full-color instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app.
- Riding Modes: The bike offers four integrated riding modes: Sport, Road, Rain, and a customizable Rider mode.
- Electronic Aids: Other features include a three-level Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system, two selectable power modes (Full and Low), a quick shifter, and dual-channel ABS.
