Ather Rizta Z Gets Touch-Enabled Screen via OTA Update; Existing Customers to Benefit

In a significant move to enhance the user experience of its latest family-oriented electric scooter, Ather Energy has announced a major over-the-air (OTA) software update for the Rizta Z. This update will enable the touch functionality on the scooter’s instrument cluster, a feature that was previously unavailable despite the presence of the necessary hardware. The company has confirmed that this update will be rolled out to all existing Rizta Z owners, as well as being standard on all new models.

A Seamless Update for All Customers

Core Specifications and Practicality

Design and Practicality

The Rizta Z retains its minimalist design, characterized by a headlamp integrated into the front apron and a long, flat seat. Its key selling point remains its practicality, with a class-leading total storage capacity of 56 liters.

Performance

The scooter is powered by a 4.3 kW electric motor that delivers a peak torque of 22 Nm. This setup allows for a top speed of 80 km/h and a quick 0-40 km/h acceleration in just 4.7 seconds.

Battery and Range

The Rizta Z is offered with a choice of three battery packs: a 2.7 kWh, a 2.9 kWh, or a 3.7 kWh. Depending on the variant, the scooter offers an IDC certified range of 123 km or up to 159 km on a single charge.

Key Safety Features

Advanced Safety

The scooter comes equipped with features like a ‘DeepView’ LCD dash, Google Maps navigation, call and music controls, emergency stop signal, “Ping My Scooter,” and the “FallSafe” feature, which automatically cuts power in case of a fall.

New Features for the Ather 450 Apex

In addition to the Rizta Z update, Ather also introduced a new feature for its flagship model, the Ather 450 Apex. The “Infinite Cruise” feature, a major upgrade, brings a sophisticated cruise control system to the scooter. This feature is more than just a standard cruise control, offering three distinct modes:

Infinite Cruise Modes

City Cruise

Designed for urban traffic, it maintains a steady speed without disengaging in stop-and-go conditions.

Hill Cruise

This mode helps the scooter maintain a constant speed while climbing or descending a hill, automatically adjusting power and leveraging regenerative braking.

Crawl Control

A unique feature that allows the scooter to maintain a slow, steady speed, as low as 10 km/h, which is useful for navigating congested traffic or rough terrain.
