New BMW S 1000 R Hyper-Naked Roadster Launched in India
BMW Motorrad India has introduced the latest version of its high-performance naked motorcycle, the BMW S 1000 R, to the Indian market. The new model is available as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹19.90 lakh.
Powertrain: A Performance Boost
The new S 1000 R retains its core identity as a powerful hyper-naked roadster, powered by a 999cc, in-line four-cylinder engine. This engine now delivers 170 bhp at 11,000 rpm, a 5 bhp increase over its predecessor, and a peak torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm.
- Performance Metrics: It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 3.2 seconds.
- Optional Enhancements: An optional M Endurance chain provides quicker acceleration and requires minimal maintenance.
Design: Aggressive and Minimalist
Front and Rear
The front features a distinctive split-face LED headlight, while the rear is streamlined with brake and tail functions integrated into the LED turn indicators for a cleaner look.
Color Schemes
Choose from three distinct schemes: Blackstorm Metallic (Standard), Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow (Style Sport), and Light White Uni with M Motorsport colors (M package).
Ride and Handling: Light, Agile, and Precise
The S 1000 R is built on a new “Flex Frame” chassis, which uses the engine as a stressed member to improve rigidity and reduce weight. This, combined with the bike’s low overall mass, results in an incredibly agile and precise handling machine. The new suspension setup, featuring a longer swingarm and a central shock absorber, ensures both stability at high speeds and comfort on bumpy roads.
Advanced Chassis Technology
The bike’s lightweight and balanced design, with a focus on mass centralization, makes it feel effortless to maneuver through city traffic and confidence-inspiring on twisty mountain roads. The updated braking system with ABS Pro provides exceptional stopping power and control, even when cornering.
Features: Comprehensive Electronics and Customization
The S 1000 R comes with an extensive list of standard and optional features, making it one of the most technologically advanced bikes in its segment.
